DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Seven members of the Davao Aguilas Football Club are joining the national team to play for the AFC U23 in China this week.

The seven members who were called up by the Philippine Football Federation were Junell Mark Bautista, Jaime Vicenzo Cheng, Dylan Alain Lucienne De Bruycker, Rey Franco Miguel Dela Torre, Van Rey Diaz, Jordan Blair, and Richard Talaroc Jr.

De Bruycker and Blair, the Ateneo player and UAAP Rookie of the Year, just came from the recent fight with Cebu FC which ended with a result of 0-0 last July 15. The other five players flew from Japan for the training camp arranged by the Philippine Football Federation, along with Japan Football Association. In an interview Charmaine Cruz, media officer of DAFC said the five players arrived in Cambodia on Monday, July 17.

In a press release Tuesday, Davao Aguilas FC Chairman Jefferson Cheng said this is “A proud moment for our Club with 7 players called up to the National Team U22.”

The AFC Under-23 Championship 2018 will serve as a preparation for the 29th Southeast Asian Games which begins next month. The Philippines are in Group J, along with Japan, China and Cambodia.

The Philippines will play against three countries, including Japan on July 19 at 3:30 pm local time (4:30 PM Manila time), China on July 21 at 3:30 PM local time (4:30 PM Manila time) and Cambodia on July 23 at 6:30 PM local time (7:30 PM Manila time).(davaotoday.com)
