The Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod strongly denounced yesterday the slay attempt against Megcauyan Barangay Captain Glenn Escovilla, a staunch supporter of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
Former City Administrator and Hugpong Secretary General Wendel Avisado in an interview with the Mirror said, “We strongly condemn the assassination attempt. This is a desperate act of desperate men.”
“It is part of the plan of the political opponents of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to harass the barangay leaders. Before the incident there were even text messages received by the barangay leaders. This is a very desperate move,” Avisado said.
Saturday afternoon, Escovilla, along with his wife Maribel and children, arrived at the San Pedro Police Station. The assassination attempt took place at about 12:30 p.m. while they were traveling from Lanang towards the city proper. Continue reading
