DAVAO CITY – Tropical storm Domeng (international name: Peipah) which entered the Philippine area of responsibility Sunday is spotted 880 km East of Davao City and is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered light rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms.
State weather bureau PAG-ASA said that Domeng has a maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 15 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 15 kph.
In its weather bulletin issued 5:00 AM today, PAG-ASA forecasted that Mindanao and the regions of Eastern Visayas and Cagayan Valley will also have cloudy skies with scattered light rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms. Metro manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
The rest of the archipelago, PAG-ASA said will experience a moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the northern and eastern section of the country and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast to east with slight to moderate seas.
Weather forecaster Meno Mendoza said in a television interview said that “Domeng” could still intensify into a typhoon before making landfall on Wednesday.
