DAVAO CITY, Philippines — A total of 74 new technologies will be showcased at SM Lanang Premiere on Wednesday, Dec. 13 during the Mindanao-wide Technology Transfer Day, an official said.

“The purpose of the event is to introduce the new technologies developed by DOST and other institutes to the public so that there would be more adaptors and in such a manner, there would be commercialization of the technologies,” DOST XI Assistant Regional Director Elsie Mae A. Solidum said.

Solidum pointed out that they want the technologies to be “introduced to stakeholders and to be employed by the general public.”

The event highlights recent technologies such as the Road Train from DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development, Eco-Friendly Septic Water Treatment from the Chemical Engineering Department of Adamson University, Charging in Minutes (CHARM) by Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI).

Apart from the 74 technologies, 15 presenters from different institutes are also set to exhibit their products, namely: the Philippine Nuclear Research, Industrial Technology Development Institute, DOST-Food Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), Metals Industry Research and Development Center, Chemical Engineering Department of Adamson University, among others.

Presenters were determined according to the resources that are “most relevant here in Mindanao,” according to Solidum.  The newly developed technologies featured in the event involve on “agriculture, food industry, health, environment and disaster risk reduction, crafts and textiles, and ICT.”

Solidum said that agricultural products and technologies are “on top of the list for inquiries.” The said event will be the third and final installment for this year after the successful launching in Manila and Ormoc City.

Solidum said they are hopeful for more innovators here in Davao and in Mindanao to pave way to “improve competence in production technology, energy, and food and safety concerns”. (davaotoday.com)
