COMPOSTELA VALLEY— In celebration of the 7th Bulawan Festival, 5, 750 Comvaleńos joined the “Walang Iwanan, Bayanihan Fun Run” on March 2, 2014 to kick-off this year’s weeklong festivity at the provincial capitol complex in Nabunturan town.
Bulawan Festival is an annual celebration of bountiful harvest in the gold-rich province of Compostela Valley. The festival also commemorates the founding of Compostela Valley as a separate province from Davao del Norte in 1998.
Organized by the provincial government of Compostela Valley, “Walang Iwanan, Bayanihan Fun Run” aims to sustain the rebuilding efforts for the victims of typhoon Pablo. In a statement by Governor Arturo T. Uy, he expressed his gratitude towards the people in supporting the “Tindog ComVal Movement”.
Bulawan 2014 also showcases “Arts from Scrap” exhibit at the Capitol lobby, featuring the works of budding local artists from the province. The exhibit aims to inculcate environmental consciousness among the youth through 3Rs: reduce, recycle and re-use” of wastes.
The festivity will culminate on March 8: Foundation Day Program with Atty Sara Duterte- Carpio as keynote speaker, and women’s fiesta in the afternoon in line with the celebration of International Women’s Day.
