DAVAO CITY – The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) region 11 will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Migrant Workers Day or Araw ng Pasasalamat on June 7 which will be held at NCCC Mall Davao from 1 to 5 PM.
This year’s celebration is anchored on the theme, “Kasanayan at Husay sa Paggawa, Proteksyon ng Migranteng Manggagawa.”
“Marami po tayong activities for this year’s celebration. Unang-una, meron tayong search for the OFW family circles (OFCs) (We have a lot of activities for this year’s celebration. First, we have the search for the OFW family circles),” said Eduardo Bellido, OWWA 11 OIC Regional Director.
Bellido said that they have already organized 122 family circles in the entire Davao region with total members of 3,500 families.
One of the activities they have also prepared is “Mga OFW Magnegosyo Tayo!” which will encourage Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to consider entrepreneurship as an endeavor.
Aside from that, they will also provide online training for OFWs who wish to improve their skills. This activity is courtesy of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Bellido also said that they have arranged a theatrical presentation on human trafficking which aims to raise awareness regarding the evils of the social issue.
He said they are expecting around 800 people who will join the celebration. (davaotoday.com)
