DAVAO CITY – The Municipality of Sta. Cruz in Davao del Sur has been cited as 2014 Regional Winner of the Rafael M. Salas Population and Development award for municipality category.
Sta. Cruz bested other municipal governments because of its “exemplary implementation of population and development programs, projects and activities contributing to the goals of the Population Management Program for healthy, happy and empowered Filipino families.”
The award is designed to carry on the legacy of Rafael M. Salas, the first executive director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) from 1969 to 1987, by honoring local government units, local chief executives and institutions or individuals for their outstanding contributions in the field of population and development.
The Awards criteria are Governance on Health and Health Financing; Access to Programs, Services and Facilities; and Performance Monitoring. (davaotoday.com)
