DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The public is advised to adjust their time schedule as the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) announced another round of road closure on Sunday.
“So if you plan to go to the market a day before the New Year’s Eve, you should take some consideration of the traffic schedule. Make it in advance” said CTTMO head Dionisio Abude.
The major city roads will close on December 30 starting 1:00 pm until the program ends on the celebration of the 122nd year anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
“No Entry” for vehicles would be placed in the streets encircling the Rizal Park such as Pichon Streets corner Anda Streets, C.M.Recto Avenue corner San Pedro Street, Bolton Street corner Rizal Street, Ponciano Street corner Rizal Street and San Pedro Street corner Anda Street.
Heavy volume of vehicular traffic would be expected in Pelayo Street, C.M.Recto Street, Rizal Street, Anda Street, McArthur Highway, Quezon Boulevard, Quirino Avenue, J.P.Laurel Avenue, Chinatown areas, Mall and Market areas.
Another road closure is also set for Torotot Festival on December 31 from 7:00 in the evening to 1:00 in the morning in C.M.Recto Avenue corner San Pedro Street, Bolton Street corner Rizal Street, Ponciano Street corner Rizal Street and Pichon Streets corner Bolton Street.
Vehicles may take a turn to Claveria Street to Rizal Street and Anda Street.
Meanwhile, Abude belied allegations that the CTTMO lack information on the road closure and has limited personnel manning the streets resulting in traffic jams during rush hour.
This came after a traffic gridlock happened on Saturday evening, December 22 in the southern and northern parts of Davao. (davaotoday.com)
