DAVAO CITY, Philippines- The 19th Council of the Sangguniang Panlungsod has approved the release of the supplemental budget for 2019-2020.
The P1, 474,394, 612.98 Supplemental Budget 1 (SB1) passed through the City Council under the Committee on Finance, Ways and Means, and Appropriations to fund the various programs and projects in the City.
Under the SB1 budget, the City has allocated P31.745 Million budget for the performance-based bonus of 2,455 regular city hall employees following conditions prescribed stated by the Joint Memorandum Circular of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of Budget and Management which approves the eligibility of the City to grant the Fiscal Year 2017 performance-based bonus for its qualified officials and personnel.
Committee Chair, Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang said upon approval of the Council, the budget will be available immediately. He added the bonus rate will correspond to the percentage of performance evaluation given by the DILG of not less than 50 percent.
“This will be available the soonest because the Council has already approved it. So, our employees can now claim their bonuses” Dayanghirang said.
In an interview with Sangguniang Panlungsod and City Hall employees who asked not to be named, they said employee’s bonus is positive news under the administration of Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Most of them wish to receive a high percentage in their performance evaluation that corresponds to more than half of their monthly salary in the local government.
“This is good news for us. This can help us a lot especially that every now and then the prices of personal commodities spike high” says an employee of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Another employee who works in the City Hall more than 10 years now plans to spend his bonus on his children’s tuition fee and family needs. He said the big amount of money can ease their daily burden to budget his salary for the education of his three children, monthly bills, and other expenses.
“A big help to everyone, of course, it’s a good thing the Council passed it,” he said.
Dayanghirang also reported that the Sangguniang Panlungsod can now start the rehabilitation of the building’s elevator as it has P2 Million budget under the SB1.
City Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte has already expressed his support to repair the elevator to cater to and ease the difficulties of persons with disabilities (PWD) and the public whenever they have transactions in the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
“The amount is intended to repair our elevators here for convenience,” Dayanghirang added.
There is also an approved additional budget of P100 Million for the interim bus terminal, P70 Million budget for promotion of the City’s tourism, P160 Million budget for solid waste management, P6 Million budget for the deputization of collectors for the quarrying in the City and P3.4 Million for the Alternative Learning System.(davaotoday.com)
