DAVAO CITY – The City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) has recorded an increase in the number of applications for renewal of business permit since it launched the “One-stop Shop” program last January 2.
The program aims to accommodate 34,000-35,000 businesses in the city.
“On the first week alone, there were already a lot who renewed their permits. Our assessment of business taxes also increased,” City Treasurer Rodrigo S. Riola said.
They recorded 24,145 applicants from January 2 to 13. Of this number, 23,950 were renewals, and 195 were new businesses.
Of the same number of applications, 4,821 permits were already renewed and were issued with business logos. Some 19,679 were issued with business tax order of payment, of which 9,069 already paid their dues amounting to P91,466,812.
The amount was 12 percent higher compared to last year, Riola said.
Atty. Lawrence Bantiding, officer-in-charge of the Business Bureau said that peace and order was one of the major factors that contributed to the increase in business renewal in the city.
Bantiding said that renewal of business permit beyond January 20 will have a corresponding surcharge of 20 percent. (davaotoday.com)
