TAGUM CITY—Police chief PSupt Solomon De Castilla on Tuesday bared the identity of suspected gunman of slain radio broadcaster Rogelio “Tata” Butalid who was killed December 11 last year.
De Castilla identified Wrenster Libres Azarcon with an alias of “Ren-Ren” as among “the three motorcycle-riding gunmen. The other two served as a lookout and one tailing Azarcon.”
The announcement came a month after a local court issued an arrest order against Azarcon.

De Castilla appealed the help of the media to disseminate the computerized cartographic sketch of Azarcon who, according to him, is still “at-large” as of press time.
“We want the media and the public to help us find Azarcon by disseminating this photo so that our police authorities could arrest him the soonest possible time,” he appealed.
Judge Virginia D. Tehano-Ang of the Regional Trial Court Branch 1 handed down the arrest warrant against Azarcon last September 10.
“Azarcon is facing a murder charge which is a non-bailable offense. Based on our investigation, it was Azarcon who fired the bullets to Butalid,” De Castilla said.
Meanwhile, Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon expressed confidence that Azarcon will be nabbed soon, saying that “we assure that justice will be served to Butalid’s family.”
