DAVAO CITY – More than 2,000 police and other security forces will secure the Kadayawan Festival celebrations here on August 17-23.
The Davao City Police Office will deploy 1,400 personnel, said Senior Inspector Milgrace Driz, city police spokesperson.
The Regional Public Safety Battalion will augment them with 100 additional personnel.
She said these forces will be backed with 600 persons from different security units formed by civil society organizations collectively known as unified force multipliers, and another 900 members of the barangay peace and order units.
Driz said they will ensure “maximum deployment of forces” during the Kadayawan.
Col Macairog Alberto, commander of the Task Force Davao, said his unit will provide support to the Davao City Police Office, with 300 personnel.
Alberto said there are no reports that Davao City is being targeted for attacks, however, they are not taking things for granted.
“Even if there is no report, our alert level is still very high,” he said.
Meanwhile, Driz said they will implement Stop-and-Freeze (Oplan Sita) “with courtesy”.
Suspicious-looking individuals will be asked first to leave the premises of the activity area to confront him outside, she said.
She said they will brief all their police officers before deploying them to the field. (davaotoday.com)
