DAVAO CITY – A murder case has already been filed against an army major from the 4th Infantry Battalion under the 10th Infantry Division who allegedly shot dead a woman in Tagum City on January 9.
Major Abdillah Dimao Pangcatan, 49, was also charged with illegal possession of firearms and explosives. Pangcatan allegedly masterminded the killing of Richelle Anne Marabe Austero, 27, a resident of New Corella, Davao del Norte.
Pangcatan, was arrested after being positively identified by a witness during the police line-up at Tagum City Police Station last Sunday.
Tagum City Police Office chief investigator Anjanette Tirador clarified that the police did not have an evidence to prove that Pangcatan and Austero were related, as previously reported.
In an interview with Radyo ni Juan Tagum, Pangcatan said that he was with the victim last January 8 to locate Austero’s husband, Eric who was reportedly in a relationship with Pangcatan’s wife.
Pangcatan, meanwhile said that the victim’s husband shot her. He also denied the allegations that he wanted revenge against the victim.
The case was already referred to the Office of the City Prosecutor in Tagum City.(davaotoday.com)
