TAGUM CITY- A village official of Carmen town, in Davao del Norte, was arrested by anti-narcotics operatives during a buy-bust operation in Davao del Norte province.
The suspect is identified as Jojo Bitte, 42, councilman in Barangay Guadalupe, Carmen, Davao del Norte.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General, Arturo Cacdac Jr. said that Bitte was nabbed in a drug buy-bust operation on November 21 at Purok 1-A, Barangay San Isidro, Carmen town.
“Bitte handed to our undercover agent a plastic sachet of suspected shabu. Aside from the shabu, his motorcycle, cellular phone and marked money that was used during the buy-bust operation were all confiscated from him, “ said Cadac.
Cadac said the operation was jointly conducted by the PDEA Regional Office 11, Davao del Norte Provincial Public Safety Company and Carmen Municipal Police Station.
Bitte is presently detained at Davao City Police detention facility and will be facing charges of use of illegal drugs, said Cadac.
Meanwhile, last Wednesday, the PDEA 11 burned a total of 22.4 grams of shabu and 2,852.3 grams of cannabis sativa or marijuana at the IBP building compound at the Government Center in Mankilam, Tagum City.
The burned illegal drugs were estimated to be worth P301,401.50. The activity was part of the week-long campaign on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week slated every third week of November which was observed annually.
It was witnessed by Governor Rodolfo del Rosario, Judge Rowena Apao-Adlawan, presiding judge Branch 13 Regional Trial Court and Prosecutor Noel Palma. . (davaotoday.com)
