Army honors newly-promoted generals

MANILA — No less than the Army chief Lieutenant General Delfin N. Bangit honored the visit of the eight newly promoted generals at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Andres Bonifacio, Metro Manila on June 18.

Among the newly promoted generals are : Lieutenant General Raymundo B Ferrer, Commander of Eastern Mindanao Command; Major General Reynaldo D Sealana, Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations, J7; Major Gen. Vicente M Porto, Commander of 3rd Infantry Division; Brigadier General Elmir S Dela Cruz, AJ6, General Headquarters, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP); BGen. Romulo M Bambao, Deputy Commander Special Operations Command; BGen. Julius R Moreo, Chairman, Philippine Army Bids and Awards Committee; BGen. Bonifacio T De Castro, Commander 203rd Brigade, 2nd ID; and BGen. Tristan M Kison, Assistant Division Commander, 9th ID.

The Army chief congratulated the newly-promoted officers as he reminded them of the greater responsibility that is laid now on their shoulders.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Army honored Major Gen. Johnny Corcha, the outgoing commander of the Army Support Command in a testimonial review, and recognized his 36 years of invaluable military service. The testimonial review is traditionally rendered for military officers retiring from the active military service. The Army, led by its commanding general Lt. Gen. Bangit, also expressed thanks to Gen. Corcha’s wife and children for their support which has been Gen Corcha’s secret to a successful military life.
