DAVAO CITY — President Rodrigo Duterte is the country’s most trusted official today.
Based on the results of the Pulse Asia survey, Duterte got 91 percent of the Filipinos trust “and practically no one distrusting him” with 0.2 percent. The survey shows eight percent of the Filipinos cannot say whether they trust or distrust Duterte.
Duterte was followed by Vice President Leni Robredo, who got 62 percent trust ratings and 11 percent distrusting her; and Supreme Court Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno with 35 percent and 19 percent distrust ratings. Robredo got 27 percent of the undecided, while Sereno got 42 percent.
The Trust Ratings of the Top 3 Philippine Government Officials and Filipinos Expectations of the New Administration survey were conducted from July 2 to July 8 using face to face interviews.
Pulse Asia said the nationwide survey is based on a sample of 1,200 adults aged 18 years old and above, +3 percent error margin at 95 percent confidence level.
Duterte, who is from Mindanao and has served as the city mayor here for 22 years, got the highest trust rating in Mindanao with 97 percent, followed by the National Capital Region (92 percent), Luzon and Visayas (89 percent).
Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar in a statement thanked the people for their support to the leadership of Duterte.
“This record-high trust rating of 91% is a humbling reminder that the genuine and meaningful change that our people aspire for is now being felt,” Andanar said.
“A position of leadership is often a lonely one. However, a servant-leader, as they say, has to take people where they don’t want to go, but ought to be,” he said.
He said the public’s confidence shown in the survey results will continue to inspire the administration “to continuously make a real difference and make our people’s lives better, safer, and healthier.”(davaotoday.com)
