DAVAO CITY — An official from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency XI confirmed that marijuana plantations exist in every province.
Noli Dimaandal, information officer of PDEA 11 said also said that the most famous place where a huge marijuana plantation is located is in the area of Barangay Bulol-Salo, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur.
“If I am not mistaken last 2009, we uprooted more or less P9 million-worth of marijuana,” he said.
Last November 15, joint elements of PDEA XI, Kiblawan Municipal Police station, Crime Investigation and Detection Group XI Davao del Sur and the 72nd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army conducted a Marijuana eradication in Sitio Aliong, Barangay Kimlawis, Davao del Sur.
The said operation resulted in the uprooting and confiscation of 5,000 pieces of suspected marijuana with an estimated value of P850,000.
However, Dimaandal said no suspected cultivator was apprehended during the operations. Dimaandal said marijuana comes second to shabu as the most “drug of choice in the region”.
The agency is commemorating the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation Number 124 signed by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo last November 26, 2001.
Dimaandal said that there were several training among teachers of the Department of Education Division of Davao del Sur who will become “force multiplier” on the campaign against illegal drugs.
Meanwhile, Dimaandal said that suspected drug traders included in their Order of Battle (OB) list have already left the city because of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s ultimatum.(davaotoday.com)
