DAVAO CITY, Philippines- A police officer of Police Regional Office XI is now on restrictive custody after authorities found him positive on illegal drugs.
The police officer said, Chief Insp. Milgrace Driz, spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO) XI is PO2 Felixberto De Castro of Davao del Norte Provincial Crime Laboratory Office who was ordered for “immediate relief and custody and expedite pre-charge investigation and fast track summary dismissal proceedings.”
He was one out of the 12 personnel who were checked last June 21.
According to Driz, PO2 De Castro is now under the custody of Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) for Pre-charge investigation.
“Meantime, his firearms, PNP Badge, and PNP ID have (already) been recalled. This office adheres strictly to the implementation of the mandate without prejudice,” Driz said.
On Wednesday’s press conference, Driz also said that as part of their intensified implementation of Memorandum Circular No. 2017-013, they aim to instill a culture of discipline among the main enforcers of the Anti-drug campaign under the Duterte administration.
According to PRO XI’s record, there are seven police officers who were already dismissed from service; one police officer was demoted, three police officers were reprimanded and other 10 police officers were suspended.
The number of exonerated police officers, however, is higher compared to penalized ones.
There were 41 police officers whose administrative cases were dismissed from January to May 2018. (davaotoday.com)
