TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur – The Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights Subcommittee joint with the Committee on Cultural Communities held a two-day probe on the killings and evacuation of Lumads in this province.
Senator Teofisto Guingona III visits the evacuees in Tandag City provincial sports complex and assures them that the Senate investigation will hold those responsible for the killings accountable for their crimes.
SENATE PROBE The Senate inquiry was attended by local officials, residents who witnessed the killings, the Army and other support groups.
WHY? Governor Johnny Pimentel of Surigao del Sur questions the Army why they did not apprehend the members of the Magahat-Bagani Force, the militia group responsible for the killings of Lumads in Lianga town if they deny they created the said armed group during the Senate inquiry held Thursday.
SCHOOLING. Grade 8 students of the Alternative Learning Center for Agriculture and Livelihood Development continue their studies inside the evacuation camp in Tandag City provincial sports complex.
TENT CITY. Around 2,917 individuals stay in Tandag City provincial sports complex due to fear of the killing rampage by armed militia in their communities.
