DAVAO CITY – Moro group Suara Bangsamoro is not contented with the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law saying “it falls short of the aspirations of the Moro people.”
Amirah Lidasan, national spokesperson of Suara Bangsamoro said they have been critical of the BBL “because it falls short of the aspirations of the Bangsamoro people’s struggle for genuine right to self-determination.”
“The BBL is limiting and counterposing this right with the Philippine Constitution,” said Lidasan.
Lidasan said “BBL disregarded the reasons why the Moro people remain poverty stricken, enduring a backward economy and its communities are in conflict.”
Lidasan said BBL copied its programs including security policies from the national government “which in the past have been the complaint of the Moro people and were deemed discriminatory.”
“The [issues] being tackled at Congress today, namely the Bangsamoro police and armed forces, highlights only the chain of command, but glosses over issues of human rights violations brought about by the same national security policy that the BBL is being subjected to adopt,” Lidasan said.
