DAVAO CITY – The Coast Guard here will secure beaches where traditional beach goers are expected to flock come Holy Week.
Lieutenant Commander August A. Carino, of the Coast Guard Station Davao, said their preparations have begun March 27 and will end on April 6 as they noted increased drowning incidents during the Catholic commemoration of the Holy Week.
Carino said all of their 50 personnel, seven divers and seven aluminum life boats are on standby in their stations.
He said they are also in close coordination with the Philippine Navy if the need arise in rescue operations.
