Coastal clean-up marks Davao City’s Fish Preservation Week

DAVAO CITY—Local residents of Barangay Talomo in this city has conducted a coastal clean-up drive to mark the Fish Preservation Week this month of October.

The activity was spearheaded by Talomo village officials as it meant to encourage participation both from the local fisher folks and constituents.

Mary Moraten, fisheries resource officer of the City Agriculture Office, said the coastal clean-up has been conducted with the formal registration of fisher folks, fishing boats and fishing gears.

Part of the activity is the distribution of Tilapia fingerlings distribution that will be conducted at Marilog District.  Bantay-dagat volunteers will also be deputized on October 22, she said.

Fishery Week will be culminated with the fisher folks side by side with the officials of the City Agriculture Office and the Bureau of Fisheries and Natural Resources. (davaotoday.com)
