While the people in Manila awaited for Pope Francis’ mass in Luneta Sunday, members of militant groups staged an interfaith mass in Rizal Park.
Women’s group Gabriela said that they pray the pontiff will “hear the cries of the women and children victims of militarization.”
Gabriela secretary general Mary Ann Sapar cited the militarization of an indigenous peoples’ school in Davao del Norte province.
The group is appealing to Pope Francis to “stand with us to end impunity.”
