DAVAO CITY – The City Government of Davao has pledged P5 million cash aid for the victims of Typhoon Lawin in Northern Luzon.
The City Council has approved a resolution appropriating P5 million for those affected by the typhoon in Northern Luzon last week.
The cash aid will provide at least P10,000 to each of the 495,937 persons affected by the typhoon.
The local government has allocated P1.8 million for Cagayan Valley, P1.6 million for Kalinga, P900,000 for Ilocos Norte, P200,000 for La Union, P150,000 for Apayao, and P350,000 for Mt. Province.
City Councilor Diosdado Mahipus said they suspended the rules to take up the resolution that was requested by City Mayor Sara Duterte.
“In response o the call of Mayor Duterte, we suspended the rules to take up a very important matter,” Mahipus told reporters on Tuesday.
Mahipus also said the city is ready to provide 911 services to the area depending on the plan that will be finalized by the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
The cash aid will be sourced from the city’s calamity funds which still has P340 million left.(davaotoday.com)
