Labor group, Kilusang Mayo Uno, called US Ambassador Philip Goldberg a liar for “denying” US government’s role in the January 25 Mamasapano incident.
In various reports, Goldberg said US forces did not participate in the Operation Exodus which targeted Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan in Mamasapano, Maguindanao.
“We weren’t involved in the planning, we weren’t involved in the execution,” Goldberg told The STAR.
The national police Board of Inquiry (BOI) report, meanwhile, confirmed the participation of the US which was reported by BOI sources as having provided assistance to the police commandos.
The Senate investigation also reported last Tuesday that Americans provided intelligence, equipment, surveillance, and training to the troops who were involved in the operation.
KMU said Goldberg should be kicked out from the country.
“He is a war criminal and a liar. Instead of owning up to his government’s crime of causing many Filipinos deaths, he continues to deny the US’s unmistakable role in the Mamasapano bloodbath,” Elmer “Bong” Labog, KMU chairperson, said.
KMU said that Goldberg should be declared a “persona non-grata” and be expelled from the country just like what the government of Bolivia under Evo Morales did to the US ambasssador in 2008 for meddling with the country’s internal affairs.
“Bolivia kicked him out for meddling with its internal affairs. That is exactly what we should do to him. It would not be far-fetched if this CIA operative had a direct hand in the Mamasapano operation which killed many Filipinos, violated Philippine sovereignty and endangered peace talks between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front,” Labog said.
