Stakeholders of the Philippine Children’s Medical Center signed today the agreement of land ownership that the hospital has struggled for more than 30 years.
PCMC is a government owned and controlled center for specialized health care which provides pediatric care and treats 60,000 patients annually majority of whom are from poor families.
According to Gabriela Women’s Party Representative Emmi De Jesus who joined today the agreement signing of the PCMC administrators, employees and patients “the appropriations committee acceded to have a budget item for the land grant, after popular opinion forced the majority legislators into the defensive of cutting down pork items from the 2015 budget.”
De Jesus said they “salute the stakeholders of PCMC for opposing the privatization plan of the government and fighting for the poor’s right to free health service.”
