DAVAO CITY – A member of the CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA) died while two others were wounded after the New People’s Army allegedly detonated an improvised explosive device in South Cotabato on the day of the NPA’s 46th anniversary, an army official said.
Col Romeo Brawner, spokesperson of the Eastern Mindanao Command, in a statement, identified the fatality as CAA Moreno Eding and the injured as Dante Digdigan and Samuel Damucom, who are also Cafgu members.
Brawner said the incident took place around 7:00 am on Sunday at the Poblacion,T’boli in South Cotabato.
The CAA members were reportedly removing a streamer with a greeting for the NPA’s anniversary when the IED exploded. They were then rushed to T’boli Evangelical Clinic at Brgy. Edwards.
