DAVAO CITY – A promo merchandiser was injured due to a gunshot from “sumpak”, or homemade gun, Friday morning.
The victim was identified as Alexander Sotomayor Pacatang, 29 years old and resident of Bolton Ice Plant, Bolton Ext., Davao City.
Before the accident, Pacatang said that it was around 2:45 am when he was walking along Bolton Extension towards his boarding house when he heard a gunshot. He then realized that he was hit with a stray bullet on his left leg.
Investigators said the bullet was fired from an improvised firearm in the Philippines locally known as “sumpak”.
It said that group of teenagers were engaged in a riot, which spilled over to the inner portion of Bolton Extension after the incident.
Meanwhile, the victim is declared out of danger by his attending physician. The case is still under investigation. (davaotoday.com)
