Militant women’s group Gabriela is set to protest the anniversary of Republic Act 6715 also known as the Herrera Law tomorrow (March 2) during its 26th year.
RA 6715 was legislated under former Pres. Corazon Aquino in March 2, 1989 as an amendment to the Labor Code of 1974. It was called “Herrera Law” after its main sponsor, former Senator Ernesto Herrera.
Gabriela Women’s Partylist said the Herrera Law is “anti-worker and anti-women” as it “legalizes labor-only contracting”.
The group will issue an End of Contract Notice for the Herrera Law in a protest action to the Department of Labor and Employment and the Malacanang.
