DAVAO CITY – Government soldiers recovered high powered firearms after brief skirmishes with the New People’s Army on Thursday.
In a statement emailed by Major Ezra Balagtey of the Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom), troops from the 30th Infantry Battalion encountered the NPAs in Sitio Brazil, Mat-i, Surigao City at 10:00 am.
The army recovered one M16 rifle, one M653 rifle and an M203 grenade launcher after the encounter.
In a separate incident, troops of the 1st Special Forces Company figured in a brief skirmish in Imbayao, Malaybalay, Bukidnon also on Thursday afternoon.
No casualty was reported in both encounters.
