TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte — The city government of Tagum has kicked-off the yuletide season Wednesday lighting up its 172 feet Christmas tree.
The tree which costs around P2.4 million is said to be the country’s tallest Christmas tree.
In a City Information Dispatch, the ten-layered holiday tree was adorned with “74 decorative abstract frames of birds, trees, stars, flowers, and snowflakes, all lit up with 3,457 sets of LED rice bulbs and 5,400 meters of rope lights.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Allan Rellon stressed on his speech that the holiday symbol is built to highlight the lasting unity cherished by every Tagumenyo from all faith – be it Christians, Muslims or Lumad.
This significant holiday event jump-started the week-long festivity in Tagum City, with the grand coronation night of Mutya ng Tagum slated on Nov. 17 and the parochial fiesta of Christ the King on Nov. 20. (davaotoday.com)
