DAVAO CITY – At least 30 earthquakes rocked off the shore of Governor Generoso town in Davao Oriental on Monday, April 10 until the evening of Wednesday, April 12, records from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology indicated.
The strongest of the 30 tremors was recorded at magnitude 5.7 that occurred 6:38 p.m. on Monday, April 10.
The epicenter was traced 199 kilometers south of Governor Generoso with a depth of 43 kilometers and tectonic in origin.
Intensity II was recorded in Governor Generoso and Tarragona towns; intensity I in Alabel, Sarangani province.
It was followed at 7:08 p.m. by a magnitude 5.1 quake on the same day that struck offshore, 205 kilometers of Governor Generoso town.
No intensities were recorded by Phivolcs on the second strong quake Monday.
Series of offshore tremors followed on Tuesday until Wednesday evening.
No intensities were recorded on the series of quakes as these occurred more than hundreds of kilometers off the shore of Governor Generoso.
A magnitude 6.0 earthquake also hit Wao, Lanao del Sur early morning on Wednesday that caused damages in the area.
As of Wednesday evening, a total of 23 aftershocks were already recorded by Phivolcs in Wao. (Davaotoday.com)
