Unidentified gunmen fired several shots at the offices of Bangued-based Catholic-run newspaper Abra Today, and its radio affiliates DZPA and Spirit FM radio DWWM last night.
According to a report by Artemio Dumlao, two men in separate motorcycles fired at the steel gates of the St. Arnold Janssen Communication Center, which houses the said media offices, at around 9 pm.
The center was serving as a refuge to Abra Today senior reporter Marjorie Trinidad-Bandayrel, whose house was also attacked by gunmen a few weeks ago. Trinidad believes that the attack had something to do with her reports about the Abra Electric Cooperative.
The report further states that Abra police director Sr. Supt. Charlo Collado has already ordered an investigation, while Bangued town mayor Dominic Valera condemned the attack and vowed to personally run after the perpetrators.
