MANILA — “What the hell is Jovito Palparan doing in Lanao?”
Bayan Muna Rep. Teodoro Casio, whose group was the alleged target of killers allegedly let loose by Palparan when he was still a general, said this morning that Palparan is in Lanao del Sur and wondered what the infamous general was doing there.
“He should keep his hands off the special elections there,” Casio said, referring to the special elections to be held tomorrow in more than a dozen areas in Lanao del Sur, where fraud have allegedly been rampant.
Many believe that the special elections, which are scheduled tomorrow, Saturday, will be crucial in the final turnout of the May 14 elections, particularly for the senatorial and partylist races. Palparan is the first nominee of the partylist group Bantay, which is trailing in the initial counts.
“The voters in the ARMM (Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) are terrorized as they are by their warlods and don’t need a berdugo like Palparan to terrorize them more into voting for Team Unity senators and Malacanang front partylists like Bantay,” Casio said.
He said that with the heavy presence of the military in Lanao del Sur, as well as the presence of Palparan, “we fear that the special polls is tailored fit to catapult GMA’s candidates into the winning circle,” referring to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. (davaotoday.com
