DAVAO CITY, Philippines — An inmate from Marawi City Jail surrendered to authorities on Sunday, June 18 the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology reported.
The inmate identified as Mohaderin Banding Acampong, is charged with murder. He was among the 107 inmates freed during the attack of local terror groups in Marawi City Jail and Malabang District Jail on the evening of May 23.
In a statement, BJMP chief Jail Director Serafin Barretto Jr said Acampong stayed in Novaliches, Quezon City for several weeks.
”We are happy that he chose to surrender. We are here to ensure his safety back into the fold of the law,” he said.
Barretto added that other escapees who wish to surrender are assured of “significant deduction on their possible sentence thru the immediate granting of Good Conduct Time Allowance or with other incentives provided by law.”
We know that like him, there are other escapees who are still waiting for the right chance but I can assure them, they will be more safe with us,” he added.
A total of seven inmates are already in custody of the BJMP.

Barretto added that all personnel in Marawi and Malabang jails were distributed to different assignments in Iligan and General Santos City to augment the personnel on duty. (davaotoday.com)
