Tagum City, Davao del Norte – Returning Governor Rodolfo P. Del Rosario asked the members of the provincial board to collaborate and fully support his executive agenda, which he summarized using the acronym RDR WHEELS.
The contraction stands for Roads and infra development, Development of coops, Reforms in governance and peace and order, Water and electricity development, Health, sanitation and social services, Education, culture and sports development, Economic development and environmental protection, Livelihood, skills development and micro-lending facilities, and Spiritual and moral recovery.
Del Rosario, who is the former Presidential Adviser on New Government Centers, once more invoked the core values of integrity, competence and commitment in local governance, which he strongly espoused during his previous stint as a two-term governor of the province.
Together with all the other sectors of society, I hope to work with all of you armed with the core values of integrity, competence and commitment, he appealed.
The governor also revived the MBN approach as his administrations primary tool for poverty reduction and economic recovery. He used the strategy before as the bible of his governance, earning the recognition of the national government and some international development institutions.
We will revitalize our convergence to attain the Dabaonons fundamental needs for survival, security and empowerment, he stressed.
Del Rosario also urged the provincial board to work for an executive-legislative relations that discards perpetual animosity. However, he is open to the idea of functional conflict, which can in fact play a vital role in establishing good working relations.
Del Rosario was governor from 1998 up to the 2004. At the same time, he held the concurrent position as President of the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) and of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP). Before that, he was the Congressman of the Third District of the undivided Davao del Norte Province for three terms since 1987.
His unblemished track record since he first held public office as assemblyman in 1978 made him one of the most respected public figures, not only in Mindanao but also in the entire country today. (Noel Baguio/PGO-ID)
