DAVAO CITY — Presidential aspirant Rodrigo Duterte and his running mate, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano topped two student mock polls in Visayas and Mindanao.
In Silliman University in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, a presidential survey was conducted last March 9 where Duterte got 55.86 percent of the approval of the respondents. Duterte was followed by Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago with 23.58 percent, Senator Grace Poe with 9.99 percent, former Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas with 7.55 percent and Vice President Jejomar Binay with 3.02 percent.
The survey was organized by the university’s student council in cooperation with First Time Voters’ Network (FTVN)-Negros Oriental and the Rappler Dumaguete Movers.
Cayetano, also led the vice presidential bets with 39.02 percent of respondents’ approval. He was followed by Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo and Senator Bongbong Marcos, who got 20.33 percent and 19.51 percent, respectively. Senator Francisco “Chiz” Escudero got 11.73 percent.
The tandem also topped the Misamis University in Ozamiz City mock election conducted on March 10. Duterte got 70 percent of the total votes cast followed by Poe with 13 percent, Roxas with 9 percent and Binay with 3 percent.
Cayetano got 32 percent of the total votes. He was followed by Robredo and Escudero, who got 20 percent and 19 percent, respectively. (davaotoday.com)
