DAVAO CITY, Philippines — A wanted drug personality from Davao del Norte province was killed in a reported shootout following a buy-bust operation in a drug den in Davao City on Monday evening, March 4.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Davao Region (PDEA-11) director Antonio Rivera identified the suspect as Freddie Sacurat, 32 years old, and a resident of Golden Valley, Lower Arroyo Compound, Matina, Davao City.
Sacurat noticed that he was dealing with the authorities and immediately pulled out a .38 revolver that forced law enforcers to shoot at him, the PDEA-11 report said.
The suspect was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) but was later declared dead.
Recovered from the suspect during the transaction was a small sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride locally known as “shabu” with a street value of PHP15,000.
Another two sachets of shabu worth PHP165,000, assorted drug paraphernalia, the .38 revolver, marked money, and the boodle money used during the buy-bust operation was also retrieved from the suspect.
Authorities also arrested the live-in partner of the suspect identified as Karen Ngoho and four other drug suspects.
Ngoho is said to be the drug den maintainer in the area.
