Various groups and personalities are gearing up for a major rally this Friday, March 20, to press for the ouster of Pres. Benigno Aquino III amidst his plunging ratings.
“The latest Pulse Asia survey showing a 21% drop in the President’s approval ratings and a 20% drop in his trust ratings confirms our view that the President has lost the people’s trust and confidence. This Friday’s rally will up the ante for his removal by bringing in more groups and a broader range of sectors and personalities all calling for his resignation,” said former Bayan Muna Representative Teddy Casiño, one of the key leaders of Noynoy Out Now (NOW) Coalition.
On Friday, marchers are expected to assemble at the Quezon City Welcome Rotonda, along Taft Avenue and Avenida in Manila and in the Sta. Mesa at 4pm.
According to Casiño, the rally will highlight the “people’s response” to the Mamasapano Board of Inquiry Report as well as “show the people’s disgust in his regime as affirmed by the latest Pulse Asia survey.”
“The President should heed the people’s growing clamor for his resignation. The 2016 elections don’t hold much promise either because the same old politicians and political operators will surely dominate the exercise. It is time for the people to reassert their sovereignty and will to change the system,” said Casiño.
