Rebels exploded IEDs in Comval, 1 soldier injured

DAVAO CITY – The Army on Sunday said the New People’s Army exploded three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in separate incidents in Compostela Valley Province.

Captain Rhyan Batchar, chief of the Division of Public Affairs Office of the 10th Infantry Division said the incidents happened last September 29, October 6 and October 8.

“The first incident occurred last September 29 at 10:30 in the morning at Purok 10, Sitio Ambawan, Barangay Osmeña when the NPA targeted the vehicle of 66th Infantry Battalion which was on the way to prepare the site of the Serbisyo Caravan,” Batchar said.

Batchar said the second incident “happened at 10:45 in the evening of October 6 when the NPA targetted a passing vehicle at Crossing Blanco, Barangay Osmeña. The unidentified vehicle just continued travelling after the attack.”

The third IED attack happened at 11:00 pm October 8 along the highway at Purok 6, Barangay Colapogon where a soldier was “slightly wounded by splinters”.

Batchar said the IED exploded after the Army truck of the Service Support Battalion had already passed.

The Army official said two unexploded IEDs were also recovered by CAFGU Active Auxilliaries (CAAs) along the highway in Barangay Osmeña in the early morning of October 9. (davaotoday.com)
