Alejandre bared on Tuesday’s Pulong-Pulong with Pulong press conference that the attempt to break the record for the ‘Longest Bunting’ is part of the 5th Visit Davao Summer Fest that will run from April 15 to June 30.
He said that they are targeting to reach more than 200 kilometer stretch of the simultaneous hanging of buntings from Santa Cruz town in Davao del Sur down to Mati City in Davao Oriental.
Currently, the longest line of bunting is 17,600 m (57,742 ft 8 in) long and was achieved by Poeler Einwohner und Freunde (Inhabitants and Friends of Poel) in Insel Poel, Germany, on August 25, 2013.
In this year’s 5th Visit Davao Summer Fest, Davao City will collaborate with other neighboring provinces in the region to come up with a set of activities to be offered to foreign and local tourists. The event was designed to promote tourism destination aside from the city’s annual activities like Araw ng Dabaw and the Kadayawan Festival.
Aljandre added that the event will showcase sports activities, arts, and culture, parties and leisure, as well as discounts to entice tourists to visit Davao Region as their next summer destination.
“5th Visit Davao Summer Fest is much bigger this year that’s why we are also expecting more tourist to visit our region,” Aljandre added. (davaotoday.com)
