Cops deployed to Davao City cemeteries

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Police have been sent to public and private cemeteries today ahead of the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day this week.

Angel Sumagaysay,deputy officer of Public Safety and Security Command Center said some 6,000 personnel will be deployed to ensure the safety and security of the public.

Today, various security units will have soft deployment of around 300 personnel while it would increase to around 1,300 on October 31, when people will start to flock to the cemeteries.

On November 1 and November 2, another 2000 personnel will be deployed to tighten the security as the influx of visitors in cemeteries is expected.

Sumagaysay said they would also be putting up a Joint Command post to immediately address the concerns of public during these days.

The PSSCC again reminded the public about the objects prohibited inside the cemetery.

The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) had now placed traffic advisories in cemeteries and other areas to guide motorists away from the expected build-up of traffic during the holiday.

On the other hand, a number of passengers were starting to build up in the bus terminal days before the two day holiday

Aisa Yusop, manager of Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) assured the public of the tight measure at the terminal.Personnel from Task Force Davao and Davao City Police Office were also deployed to beef up the security at the terminal.

She said they were expecting the bus trips to reach up to 1,200 trips due to the increase of passengers who will be returning to their hometowns to visit their loved ones.Buses were also checked by authorities to ensure safe travel.(davaotoday.com)
