Tagum Mayor claims mixed gains after ‘Palaro’ 2015

May. 18, 2015

TAGUM CITY—Tagum City Mayor Allan Rellon has claimed that Tagum City has gained multiple benefits after the successful hosting of the 2015 Palarong Pambansa in Davao del Norte.

“The end of Palaro 2015 will be the beginning of more great opportunities for Tagum City as we have already crafted a good impression that would last a lifetime,” Rellon told media reporters during Tagum Biz Talk at Tagum City.

Rellon cited three areas–investments, infra-development, tourism– where he claimed that the city government has benefited during the conduct of the Palarong Pambansa 2015.

Rellon said that Tagum is poised to be the center of meetings, investments, conventions and events (Mice). “We have enough proof that Tagum can hold big events as we have the biggest market potential to take advantage of economic activity within our locality.”

He claims that with the hosting of Palarong Pambansa 2015, it served as an “offshoot for tourism industry in Tagum.”

“It’s just a matter of connecting with the Department of Tourism to have a clout over the tourism destination in  the country. There is no question of collaboration work in the tourism sector because our city is already championed by empowered tourism industry leaders, stakeholders and citizenry,” Rellon said.

Rellon said that the City’s Incentive Code  will be able to boost and entice more investments. “This incentive code is in the right time as the country is into the full swing of the Asean Economic Integration into becoming one Asean region,” he said.

Rellon stressed that Palarong Pambansa 2015  “had provided a clearer picture of Tagum City to offer bigger investments as the city is now slowly seen in the global map which we aimed long before.”

“When we say bigger investments, it means bigger opportunity of economic growth and more chances for employment to our constituents,” Rellon said.

Meanwhile, Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo del Rosarion said Tagum and Davao del Norte province were known because of Palarong Pambansa 2015.

“We are in the map already because of the successful hosting of Palaro 2015. Aside from that they discovered too that we are friendly and warm people,” said del Rosario.

Del Rosario hopes that the positive gains that were benefited from Palaro 2015 will be sustained and utilized for the advantage of the Tagum City and the province. (davaotoday.com)
