DAVAO CITY — The Environmental Management Bureau in collaboration with the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., Philippine Business for Environment, SM Prime holdings and the City government of Davao will hold its 7th Recyclables Collection Event at SM City Car Park, Matina, Davao City on June 30, 2007, Saturday.
The activity is one of the highlight in the celebration of the month of June as Environment Month, the activity further aims to intensify the environmental advocacy campaign among the youth and government sectors because of the significant role they play in the preservation of our environment.
Regional Director Metodio U. Torbilla of Environmental Management Bureau (EMB-XI) said, that the business sector stays as a vital player in addressing the worsening garbage problem in the city.
Corporate social responsibility for environment recognizes both economic growth and environmental protection for sustainable development, Director Turbella further said.
Buyers will be stationed at the SM Car Park to purchase the following recyclables, Newsprint & magazines, aluminum cans & caps crown, used office papers and cartons, lead acid batteries, car batteries, used appliances, junk electronics/ electrical equipment, used PET, PE, PP bottles & plastics, non-PET/styro, tin cans, scrap metals, copper brass, scrap iron used printer ink and toner cartridges and glass (whole or cullets/bubo)
The last year RCE was a success due to the active participation of the various sectors of the community and the support of Hon. Angelo T. Reyes, Secretary of the Department of Environment & Natural Resources.
Meanwhile the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) will be holding a press conference at the Philippine Information Agency XI, during the Kapihan Sa PIA press conference, on Friday, June 29, 2007 the DCCCII guests will discuss the details of the Recyclable Collection Event.
