DAVAO CITY — Incoming and re-elected councilors from three districts in Davao City took their oath during the last session of the 17th City Council, Tuesday, June 28.
City Administrator Atty. Melchor Quitain Sr. presided the oath taking of the 24 city councilors.
The eight elected councilors for the first district are Councilor Nilo Abellera Jr., Councilor Edgar Ibuyan Jr., Councilor Jesus Melchor Quitain, Jr., re-electionists Councilor Maria Belen S. Acosta, Bonifacio Militar, Joanne Bonguyan, Pilar Braga , and Leah Librado-Yap.
From district two, those who took their oath were re-electionists Marissa Salvador Abella, Al Ryan Alejandre, Danilo Dayanghirang, April Marie Dayap, Jimmy Dureza, Diosdado Angelo Mahipus, former councilor Dante Apostol and first-time councilor Ma. Cherry Ann Bonguyan.
Councilors elected in the third district are Bernard Al-ag, Victorio Advincula Jr., Antoinette Principe, Mary Joselle Dilig-Villafuerte, Conrado Baluran, first-timers Avegayle Ortiz, Jesus Joseph Zozobrado III, and former councilor, Rene Elias Lopez.
Three-straight term councilors who served for nine years in the previous councils also bid their goodbyes during the last regular session.
The outgoing councilors who were given plaques of distinctions include Louie John Bonguyan, Tomas J. Monteverde IV, Edgar R.Ibuyan Sr., Rachel P. Zozobrado, Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz and Karlo S. Bello.
Meanwhile, the re-elected Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte was not present during the oath-taking and is on vacation leave. Duterte’s father, President-elect Rodrigo Duterte will take his oath in Malacañang Palace on Thursday, June 30. (davaotoday.com)
