TAGUM CITY—The grand field demonstration performed by selected teachers and students during Monday’s opening ceremony for the Palarong Pambansa was worth P2.1 million, an official said.
In an exclusive Davao Today interview, Davao del Norte Planning Chief. Josie Jean Rabanos, disclosed Friday that program committee has earmarked P2.1 million for this year’s Palarong Pambansa production.
“That is the budget allocated for the dance production of the students and teachers performed during the opening ceremonies,” Rabanos said.
She said the budget covered all the over-all production expenses such as the choreographers’ and dancers’ meal and transportation allowances, costumes and dance materials, stipends.
Of the P2.1 million, Rabanos said, the Department of Education contributed P1.5 million and the provincial government P600,000.
“The rest of the funds were sourced from various sponsors who were partners of the provincial government for the 2015 Palarong Pambansa,” said Rabanos.
The selected students and teachers came from four DepEd Divisions: Davao del Norte, Panabo City, Tagum City and the Island Garden City of Samal.
The Palaro’s opening ceremony was interrupted by rain, however, but Governor Rodolfo del Rosario announced that a repeat of the performance would be conducted during the closing ceremony on May 9.
“They will bring back the glory which was not achieved during the opening,” Rabanos said.
On Saturday morning, field demonstrations would have a run-through of their dance presentation at the oval field in preparation for the Palarong Pambansa closing ceremony in the afternoon. (davaotoday.com)
