MANILA — Nine days since Jonas Joseph Jay-jay Burgos, son of press freedom icon Jose Joe Burgos disappeared; his family remains clueless of his whereabouts. His family and friends put up posters today at major points in the city in an effort to gather help from ordinary citizens and authorities as well.
The group put up posters at the vicinity of Ever Gotesco Commonwealth, Philcoa, Camp Aguinaldo and Camp Crame with basic details about Jonas and where citizens of good heart could give helpful details
Jose Luis JL Burgos, Jay-jays brother said, we chose to start our Operation Jonas at Ever Gotesco Commonwealth because it is where he was last seen. According to witnesses, he was abducted at Hapag Kainan, one of the restaurants at the mall.
We are calling to citizens of good hearts, please help our family to locate Jay-jay. If you have any little details of Jay-jays whereabouts, the posters have details where you could contact us and we will assure you of confidentiality so as not to jeopardize your security as well, JL stressed.
We believe if Jay-jay committed any crime, he deserves a fair trial to defend himself before the court of law, abducting him is a cowardice act and against the law. We reiterate our call to whoever got hold of him to please surface Jonas and give him a fair chance to trial if ever he committed any crime, JL stressed.
JL made one clarification though, the poster of Jonas at Camp Aguinaldo and Camp Crame is no way of pointing a finger to them. The Armed Forces of the Philippines, being the delegated protector of the citizenry, they have all the machineries to locate any missing person.
They have exerted all effort in finding Julia Campbell, the missing US Peace Corps who was killed in Banawe. We are asking them to do the same to my brother who is a good citizen of this republic, taking care of our little farm and helping other farmers make a good living, the young Burgos stressed.
He further said that, we are just an ordinary family in search of a member. He has a little child who missed him so much and have no any idea of his fathers misfortune. He deserves to be reunited with his wife and kid, he deserves to be with his whole family. We call on to anybody who holds him right now, surface my brother alive and unhurt.
