DAVAO CITY, Philippines – At least 974 individuals went through profiling on Wednesday, November 8, in several parts of the city as part of the police’s anti-criminality and terrorism operations.
Police Senior Inspector Teresita Gaspan, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) said out of the 974 people, some 165 of them could not present proper identification.
However, it turned out later that 13 of those without proper identification were internally displaced persons from Marawi City, said Gaspan.
The profilings were part of Oplan Bulabog and were conducted in Park 9, Lower Madapo, Barangay 8-A, Arroyo Compound, Matina Crossing, Kilometer 12, Bolinao Site, Muslim Village, Ilang, Alegre, Manggahan, Toril, Deca Homes, and Tacunan.
According to Gaspan, the profilings were conducted based on the reports of barangay officials who have observed presence of people with “suspicious acts”.
“We also identified persons who have standing warrant of arrest who reside in certain areas,” she said. (davaotoday.com)
