DAVAO CITY, Philippines – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is conducting an investigation at the Davao International Airport where various drug paraphernalia was discovered Friday dawn, October 20.
Naravy Duquiatan, officer-in-charge of the PDEA 11, said they are now reviewing footages of the airport’s closed circuit-television.
Duquiatan said the drug paraphernalia was found by a janitor at the male comfort room of the Francisco Bangoy International Airport. The janitor turned over to police authorities a tooter, two lighters, a needle, as well as a plastic sachet he found at the comfort room around 5:35 am.
Some P1,000 worth of shabu was also found inside the sachet, said Duquiatan.
She said the report of the janitor was “a good indicator” that the community is doing its part in the anti-illegal drug campaign.
“The law enforcement agency is conducting rigorous anti-drug campaign and we commend the effort of the janitor for turning over the drug paraphernalia to authorities,” she said.
The airport caters to 2 million passengers a year and was recently recognized as among the top 25 Asian airports for 2017 survey of the Canadian website SleepinginAirport.net. (davaotoday.com)
