DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Members of the City Council here, including Vice Mayor Paulo Duterte will be flying to Shanghai, China upon invitation to tighten the bond of the two cities.
The ambassador of China and the Goverment of Shanghai invited on Wednesday, October 26, the City Council and Vice Mayor Duterte for the purpose of establishing relations with the China and the city of Shanghai.
Councilor Rene Lopez, who is among the city officials to visit Shanghai said that they plan to explore the city, especially their economic development, infrastructure and trade and investment.
“The Vice Mayor found it very important to establish relations because this is in consonance with the national government’s approach that our very own President Rodrigo Duterte is trying to do,” he said.
By going to Shanghai, Lopez said they aim to have a bilateral relations in many areas.
Lopez said that China is eyeing the country especially Davao as banana export trade.
“Maraming kailangan ang China sa atin, especially our bananas kasi mahal ang saging sa kanila (The China needs us especially our banana since it’s very expensive there),” he said. (davaotoday.com)
